Captain's Diary
1st January 2009
What a busy but enjoyable start to my year as Captain. The month began on January 1st. with the Captains Drive-In. My brother and I had discussed doing something different but nothing had been agreed until 15 minutes before the President, Andy Bell called me to the first tee. We decided to do a swap! So Roland appeared on the tee swishing his driver in an exaggerated fashion much to the bemusement of the assembled members and guests. He kicked away the fairway mat ( left by our Head Greenkeeper to protect his grass - good one Warwick! ) and proceeded to set up for the drive. At this point the "proper" Captain arrived and the imposter was perfunctorily dismissed. Fortunately my nerves had settled enough to hit a reasonable drive to start the 2009 season!
I was pleased to see so many people at the Drive-In on such a cold, frosty day - thank you for your support.
