I came to Abbeydale GC for the brilliant golf course & competitive opportunities. I'll stay because of the people. Not only have I met some wonderful friends, the club is progressive& proactive in moving the sport forwards.

I have played the game since I was 12 & I can say with ease that this is not your average golf club. I am excited to represent & be part of Abbeydale's future.

When joining Abbeydale I was made very welcome by other members and our excellent professionals. I have since made many friends and enjoy other club activities such as the Book Club and exercise classes, as well as representing Abbeydale in team matches and running a lot of our junior golf. It’s a challenging course but I love the different 18 holes and the beauty and views throughout the seasons. - Olga Lidbury member.

On returning to Sheffield

I moved to London 8 years ago but kept my social membership going in the event that we may return to Sheffield in the future….

We did ……

Having been a member of Royal Mid Surrey GC which was a very progressive and inclusive to all members within the golf club, I was delighted on my return to see how much progress Abbeydale GC was making with joint men and women monthly medals and stableford qualifiers and various mixed competition events.

Going forward a joint medal /stableford final days for the first time and all lead by a wonderful chairwoman pushing equality within the club.

A family sport

Golf is a sport we can all share as a family and enjoy healthy competition. Abbeydale encouraged and nurtured my golf over many years as well as my husband, son, daughter and son in law, and now my grandson Maxwell who is now a 4 handicap golfer playing at a high level and winning national competitions.

Our coaches run lessons for everyone. They are endlessly patient and encouraging, making use of our indoor swing studio as well as the practice ground.

Maxwell will sometimes say ‘Fancy a few holes today Granny ?’ What other sport can offer that ? -Sue Meggitt
